The Russian Infantry are found in the Missile Silo, Statue Park and Egyptian missions where they guard the Silo's sensitive data from falling into enemy hands, guard the Statue Park from intruders and most-likely guard Baron Samedi, respectively. However, in the Egyptian Temple mission, they are to aid Baron Samedi in his revenge on Bond as he lured him into a trap by stealing Francisco Scaramanga's Golden Gun. The possible reason for their usage in the Egyptian Temple, is that their uniform blends with the temple's walls, but the real reason for their usage there is unknown, since they affiliated mostly with the Russian/Soviet military.
The Russian Infantry, while working for the Russian military in Silo and Statue, only carry KF7 Soviets, the standard weapon of Russian military guards. While protecting Baron Samedi in Egyptian, they are equipped with dual ZMG (9mm)s. They may sometimes use Hand Grenades.

- In screenshots from a pre-release version of GoldenEye, the Russian Infantry made an appearance in both the Facility and Archives missions. They may have been used as a filler before the Russian Soldiers were chosen, or perhaps before they were even designed. However, both can be seen together in a shot from the Archives. This could have been taken during the transition, while testing which one better suited the environment.
- In prerelease Silo, the were (most likely) to be held at gunpoint armless as hostages (Like French Naval Officers at Frigate) by Terrorists wearing Janus Special Forces outfits, and Bond may had to rescue them, and that would have been the other objective.
