GoldenEye offers one of the best multiplayer experiences on the Nintendo 64. Outlined here are a slew of multiplayer stages native or otherwise, common strategies and complaints, and any other stuff that otherwise belongs here.

Features

Multiplayer features several differences from single player stages. Objects reappear after being destroyed or collected. Players can select their characters, their handicap, aim settings, and so forth. All multiplayer stages contain the following four elements.

Weapon Sets

A list of the eight different possible weapons that can be placed in the stage. Stages list which of these appear and their location in the level.

Body Armor

Increases the damage a player can receive.

Flag

Used in the multiplayer scenario The Living Daylights. Only one flag may be placed in a stage.

Spawn Points

Player start positions. Each stage can have up to sixteen unique locations. At least four are needed for most stages to work correctly.

Scenarios

There are several special scoring modes that can be selected in multiplayer. In addition to the standard selection, several user-created scenarios can be used with a cheat device.

A complete scenario list can be found here.

Multiplayer Stages

There are 11 stages normally selectable from the multiplayer menu. In addition, two other stages were created by Rare and are present on the game but can only be accessed with a GameShark or Pro Action Replay. Besides these stages, through hacking all the solo stages have been given multiplayer setups, and new multiplayer-only levels are now available.

Original Stages

Temple

A vast sandstone temple with large, open rooms.

Complex

A veritable maze of narrow, winding corridors.

Caves

Dark, twisting caverns that make one of the smallest maps.

Library

Three floors, one narrow corridors underground, one large, open rooms, and another of walkways.

Basement

The lower narrow corridors underneath Library. The smallest of the multiplayer maps.

Stack

Large, blocky rooms with walkways overhead. This composes the upper two floors of Library.

Facility

Battle in the first section of the Russian gas plant. Unlocked in the solo campaign.

Archives

The same two-floor office complex from mission mode. Unlocked in the solo campaign.

Water Caverns

Dank and cavernous. Long narrow walkways and explosive barrels mark this stage. Unlocked in the solo campaign.

Egyptian

The final mission. Battle between the massive pillars of the Egyptian Temple. Unlocked in the solo campaign.

Statue Park

Weave between forgotten statues of the communist era in this multiplayer arena. Available via cheat device.

Cradle

An array of walkways teetering precariously in the air. Available via cheat device.

New Stages

This article is a stub. You can help GoldenEye Wiki by expanding it.

Strategies

Some call them tactics, others call them cheap. This is a home for all those sneaky little tricks that have been developed over the years.

No Radar

Disable the radar via a convenient unlockable in-game cheat.

Dr. No (No Body Armor)

Disable the nefarious body armor pickups. No more unending lifebars.

Camping

The much-maligned tactic of holing up in a nook.

Zig-Zagging

An erratic defensive manuever.

Circle Strafing

Circle around your target firing wildly.
