Perfect Dark is GoldenEye 007's unofficial sequel. It was developed, at least in the beginning, by the same team and was released in 2000. It runs on an advanced version of GoldenEye 007's engine, which has support for many new features, such as elevators and vehicles that can attack the player. Being an original IP, there are no direct references to GoldenEye 007 in the game, but many of its resources, such as textures, enemy animations, general gameplay, and object models have been reused. Additionally, the Temple, Complex, and Facility multiplayer arenas were featured, along with a handful of GoldenEye 007's weapons.
