GoldenEye Wiki

Siberian Guard (Arkangelsk) (Otherwise known as just Siberian Guard) is the name of the first enemy in GoldenEye 007. The name given is mostly credited to the community, because there is another variant of Siberian Guards, found in St. Petersburg levels. The name itself was probably mistakenly seen twice in the credits and Multiplayer mode character selection screen, because the two guards are actually not the same. They are only found in the Dam and Runway missions. They wear brown military overcoats and they sometimes wear berets (mostly in Runway), but never wear any armor. In Runway, they also often wear russian Ushanka hats. Their primary mission objective, seems to be to guard the perimeter of the Chemical Warfare Facility #2; on top of it guarding the Dam and outside of it guarding the Runway. They are never met in the Facility mission, or any mission after Runway.

As the first enemies that are met in GoldenEye 007, they have very low accuracy and reaction, unlike the Moonraker Elite, which have very high of both.

Weapons Used

The only weapon they carry and use is the KF7 Soviet. It appears to be the standard issue of the Soviet Military. They never throw any grenades, unlike Russian Soldiers, or any other guard and enemy.

  • They are the 28th character on the roster.
  • His head is based off "Scott".
  • They are permanently available after the Antenna Cradle stage has been beaten.

  • In the Bond film GoldenEye, Siberian Guards were chasing Bond to the Service Runway.
  • They never use any other weapon besides the KF7 Soviet, and they almost never throw grenades.
  • Due to their low reaction speed, it is possible to quickly overcome these enemies.
  • In the DS version of GoldenEye 007, the Siberian Guard has been replaced by Russian Soldiers. In the beginning of the Dam Mission there, Bond must follow Trevelyan's advice and blow up the gas canister located on the truck they have stolen to sneak into the perimeter of the Dam, thus killing several of these guards. There's a possibility that the similar replacement of enemies happened in the 2010 Wii Re-imagining and the Reloaded versions of GoldenEye 007.
  • In the first level of GoldenEye, Siberian Guard never wears any headgear. In the XBLA remaster however, they are already seen wearing Ushanka hats, despite these hats being available to them only in service runway level, in the original.
  • The word Arkangelsk is misspelled in the original GoldenEye 007. The correct spelling of this word would be - Archangelsk or Arkhangelsk.
